About Find a Puffer

Find a Puffer is an independent community-built service operated by Danielle Teychenne. It helps people locate pharmacies and view recent reports about asthma reliever stock.

This page explains what information may be collected, why it is collected, how it is used and stored, and how to make an enquiry, correction request or complaint.

Information you can use without identifying yourself

You do not need to create an account, provide your name or identify yourself to search for pharmacies or view stock information.

Stock report information

When a stock report is submitted, Find a Puffer may store:

Stock reports are intended to be displayed publicly. Please do not include patient information, health information about an identifiable person, names, phone numbers, email addresses or other personal information in stock-report notes.

Location information

If you choose Use my location, your browser may provide your current latitude and longitude so Find a Puffer can search for pharmacies near you.

Your device location is used to perform that search and is not intentionally stored as part of a stock report.

Pharmacy listing data

Pharmacy names, addresses, phone numbers, map locations and opening hours are sourced from OpenStreetMap and related OpenStreetMap services. Find a Puffer does not maintain a separate authoritative copy of those details.

If a pharmacy's hours, address, phone number or map location are wrong, please use the support page. It will direct you to update the pharmacy in OpenStreetMap so the correction can flow through to Find a Puffer and other services using the same data.

Support tickets and contact information

If you submit a support ticket, Find a Puffer may collect:

This information is used to respond to your request, investigate problems, manage privacy requests and complaints, improve the service and keep a record of how an issue was resolved.

Technical and security information

The hosting environment may process technical information such as IP address, browser or device information, request timestamps and server logs. Find a Puffer may also use short-term rate-limiting information to reduce spam and automated abuse.

Technical information is used for security, reliability, troubleshooting and abuse prevention. Find a Puffer does not use this information for behavioural advertising.

Why information is collected and used

Information is collected and used where reasonably necessary to:

Third-party services

Find a Puffer uses third-party services to operate parts of the website, including:

These services may process technical information under their own privacy policies. Some service providers may process information outside Australia depending on their infrastructure and service arrangements.

Payment information

Donations are processed by PayPal. Find a Puffer does not intentionally collect or store your card details, bank-account details or PayPal login credentials.

Storage, security and retention

Stock reports and support tickets are stored in the Find a Puffer website database. Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to reduce the risk of unauthorised access, misuse, interference, loss or disclosure.

Support tickets are intended to be retained for up to 24 months after they are resolved, unless a longer period is reasonably required for security, legal, dispute-resolution or record-keeping reasons.

Stock reports may be retained as historical service records so the integrity and history of updates can be understood. Server and security logs may be retained separately by hosting providers according to their operational and security settings.

Access, correction and deletion requests

You can ask whether Find a Puffer holds personal information about you, request access to it, ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, or request deletion where appropriate.

Use the support form and choose Privacy / data request.

Privacy complaints

If you have a privacy concern or complaint, submit a support ticket and choose Privacy / data request. You will receive a ticket reference so the issue can be tracked.

Find a Puffer aims to respond to privacy complaints within 30 days. If more time is reasonably required, you will be told where practicable.

Automated decisions

Find a Puffer does not currently use personal information to make automated decisions that would reasonably be expected to significantly affect a person's rights or interests.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the service, technology, information-handling practices or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page.
